Ambassador Li Ruiyou Presents Letter of Credence to H.E. Governor General of Papua New Guinea Michael Ogio

On April 15, H.E. Ambassador Li Ruiyou presented his Letter of Credence to H.E. Governor General Michael Ogio at the Government House, Port Moresby.

Ambassador Li conveyed the cordial greetings and good wishes of President Xi Jinping to Governor General Michael Ogio, who expressed his apperiation and asked the ambassador to convey his best wishes to President Xi.

Ambassador Li said, since Papua New Guinea's independence, its government and people have made unremitting efforts in upholding national sovereignty and independence, growing economy and promoting social progress, and have achieved remarkable results. PNG has played an increasingly important role in regional and international affairs. Li points out that the Chinese Government places great importance on growing its relations with PNG, and sees the latter as its sincere friend and important partner for cooperation in the Pacific island region. The Chinese Government is ready to work with the PNG side to further enhance friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation on all fronts and constantly move the bilateral relations forward. Li said he would do all he could to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and develop the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Governor General talks with the Ambassador

Governor General Michael Ogio said that the bilateral relations had remained friendly and constructive since formalizing of the diplomatic relations in 1976. PNG has now become a sincere friend and an important partner for cooperation for China in the South Pacific region. PNG Government highly appreciates and values PNG-China relaitons and wishes that all aspects of the bilateral relations, socio-economic relations, political and cultural cooperation and other areas of benefit, will continue to be strengthend in the years ahead. PNG continues to appreciate China's efforts in advancing the interests of developing countries at various regional and international forums, and will continue to cooperate and contribute meaningfully in international forums in advancing issues of mutural interests and concerns.
